Leycett and Madeley

This photograph is of the unveiling of a memorial on the 27th April 2011 to those who died in the 1880 explosion at the Fair Lady mine, Leycett. In the accident 62 men and boys were killed, 31 of which are buried in unmarked graves at All Saints Church, Madeley. Those in the photograph are left to right John Lumsden, Margaret Bryden*, Jim Worgan, Cannon, the Reverend Dr Barry Wilson, Dr Lloyd Boardman, Joan Bell*, John Burston, Des Wilson and Joyce Wilson.

The ladies marked with a * had relatives killed in the disaster.
